Students, parents and teachers of La Vina Elementary got a rundown of what the upcoming school year’s going to be like from Principal Patricia López during an Informational Night by the school.
The two-hour session on Thursday evening also included information about social services, legal assistance, Madera Unified School District’s new after-school program and free fingerprinting by the Sheriff’s Department.
MUSD’s gang intervention specialist, Lawrence Fernandez, showed parents how to determine whether their child might be involved or at risk of becoming involved with a gang. He displayed articles of clothing and other paraphernalia that have been associated with gangs.
López, along with MUSD staff and parents, came up with the idea of having an Informational Night, and she said she plans to continue it in the future...
