April is Autism Awareness Month, and a group of Coyote students as well as their supporters came together Friday for a luncheon designed to raise awareness about the oft-misunderstood spectrum of developmental disorders.
Lalo Sanchez, one of the lead organizers of the event, said the luncheon was “very important,” not only for teaching people about autism, but as a way for those affected by the disorder to increase their social skills.
“This was very successful,” Sanchez said. “The kids were happy and it was really nice to see their smiling faces.”
