Madera police detectives are asking for the public’s help in identifying a man who allegedly robbed the Esperanza Market at gunpoint. The store is at the intersection of Lake Street and Cleveland Avenue in north Madera.
The man was seen on surveillance footage making a purchase at the convenience store just before 9 p.m. on Feb. 2. Police then allege he returned just minutes later to rob the store armed with a handgun and wearing a mask over his face in an attempt to conceal his identity.
Det. Sgt. Robert Salas said the suspect is described as a Hispanic male with a light complexion.
“He is approximately 5 foot 8 inches tall and about 170 pounds and may also have tattoos on his hands. He pointed a handgun at the female cashier. The suspect demanded cash and fled the store with an undisclosed amount of money. Approximately five minutes earlier, the suspect was observed inside the store and unmasked,” Salas said...
